About Me

NABLOPOMO! Are you in?

Somewhere back in 2006 or 2007 I joined in on the first National Blog Posting Month which was the blogger’s answer to NaNoWriMo – the longer-lived National Novel Writing Month. I successfully completed blogging every day for a month and I was super proud. I’ve not been successful since.

BUT THIS YEAR! This year I shall reign NABLOPOMO supreme!

Mainly because I think I need to use this space more to work out some of my demons. I’m not promising you that every day will be Kim’s Therapy Corner by any means (That sound you heard was a collective sigh of relief from you – my blog friends.) but if I don’t have any concrete topic to write about, I’d like to at least vent a little about what made me binge eat or what made me cry that day. I think I’ve steered away from using this spot for cathartic purposes in the last few years and save it for the Big Bad Days Of The Mental Breakdowns, when maybe if I mentioned the small stress triggers daily I wouldn’t reach the Big Bad Mental Breakdown days. So, Tomorrow? NABLOPOMO! BRING IT ON.

If you’re going to try the same on your blog – let me know. I’m going to post a list of my blog friends doing this in the sidebar for the month of November and I’ll add your blog to the list too!

Now…on to today’s topic: Bad Costume Choices Of The Postpartum Womam

At the time I had never missed dressing up for a Halloween and I didn’t want my postpartum body to thwart that, so I obviously chose appropriately. But couldn’t I have put on some mascara? Or maybe smiled? JEEZUS.

On the other hand – here are my three favorite Hallowen costumes of my kids in the past.

Happy Halloween, Yo. And here’s to a successful month of daily blog posting starting with tomorrow’s entry that will certainly be titled: OH MY GOD…I ATE ALL OF THE CANDY.

  1. I’m participating in NaBloPoMo! I need it just to keep my sanity this year.

Love Nyoka’s lobster costume. That was awesome!

  2. I briefly considered pulling our old cow costume out of the basement for my first post-partum Halloween, but in the end I felt like it would be a little too true-to-life to be fun. Between the extra weight and the breastfeeding, I felt like enough of a cow on my own without the help of a costume.

Good luck with NaBloPoMo! I’m not participating, but I look forward to reading!

Oh my, you made me look at my blog!! I did NABLOPOMO in – wow – 2007! It looks like I tried in 2008 but only did two posts. I haven’t blogged since August, which was one post, and I did two posts in June. I really should do it, yet I’m afraid to do it! Thinking…..

I have so much on my plate, but maybe blogging at least about my priorities and goals and what I need to do would be very very helpful!! Thanks for the idea – I had completely forgotten about NABLOPOMO!

  4. You have inspired me! Luckily, I happened to blog yesterday. The last time I did NaBloPoMo was 2007. These days I am lucky to blog once a week, so this should be a fun challenge!

  5. I’m attempting it, yet again. I don’t know that I’ve ever actually made it all the way through. But! So far so good. Four days in, and still posting! Huzzah!

  6. Oh my word, but that lobster picture is cracking me UP!

I’m trying my hand at NaBloPoMo again this year–I’ve done it every year of blogging but one, so despite my crazy schedule it ended up feeling too weird for me to skip–but I don’t promise anything near the well thought out posts that you’re doing. 😉

  7. I am, perhaps regretfully, doing NaBloPoMo. Right now I am at that point where I haven’t committed the time to write so I’m throwing up…whatever…daily. Fingers crossed that changes. Or it just so happens people’s tolerance of bad writing is extremely high in November.

I am IN for NaBloPoMo. I must be crazy, considering the fact that I have only posted on my blog 19 times this year – it’s been a rough one. But I really MISS writing, so I’m biting the bullet and I’m committed!

  9. I forget what year this is for me, but I’m in. (Plus I’m doing NaNoWriMo, because I apparently hate free time.) I love the Captain Hammer costume – I am so ready for my nephews to start being into some of my more… eclectic sci-fi tastes. 😉

  10. I’m signed up too – although I didn’t list my blog on blogher – because it was confusing! But I am blogging every day (or twice yesterday because I forgot on Monday…)

  11. I am in the blog writing frenzy for November! I have been publishing almost daily since last spring (for gardening fanatics mostly!). I ran across your post about Thanksgiving on Facebook, and I LOVE it very much and am saying so here since you had comments turned off (for good reason!).
