Updates Of Awesome! (Or Of A Little Bit Better Than Normal)

  • E got cast in his Spring Musical: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Potiphar. Woo Hoo! That’s the last of his auditions for three weeks! Auditions are a very stressful time in our house because I AM INSANE. I get all freaked out and keep saying, “Are you okay? Are you sure?” because I get worried that he is freaked out when in reality he’s mellow and calm and I’m the one FREAKING OUT. You know, because I’m AWESOME.
  • I hosted my first book club last week! (On top of the Fleas! And the Auditions! And the Training! Now you see why my blog was neglected for a few days?) It went really well which thrilled me as I’ve been in this book club for a year was happy to finally have everyone over to my home. I love my book club, while the book discussions are always great, the non-book discussions tend to rock too.
  • Nikki’s flea bites are getting better in the sense that I don’t think I’ve seen any new ones…BUT…her scabs are still plentiful. This means that when she does scratch she is covered in blood which makes the whole effect really awesome in terms of us trying to present ourselves as non-homicidal maniacs.
  • My half-marathon training is going well, I keep meaning to write about it in detail because it has been such a learning experience, but for now? Just brief updates. I ran 13 miles this weekend. That’s the length of a half-marathon and I ran it. Usually in Beginner training (what I’ve done in the past) you only get up to 10 miles and trust you can do the last 3 on race day adrenaline. That has never worked for me, so this is the first time I’ve actually run the entire distance without any significant stops. I’m proud but also PISSED OFF because WHERE IS MY MEDAL? The only times I’ve completed that distance successfully before someone handed me a medal. That should be built into the cost of the class, they give you medals with the training runs. THAT’S THE BEST PART! THE MEDAL!

  1. I saw E’s tweet about getting the part 🙂 Was so excited for him – had a short discussion about Joseph (my favourite musical ever btw)

  2. Potiphar!! Oh. My. Lanta. Cannot wait to see him! That is a fun role. I have a friend who does a great Elvis impersonation (costuming, the whole bit). If E needs any pointers, maybe he could help him out. Just ask Larissa about the guy from church who does Elvis.

Congrats on the half-marathon run. I still don’t get you runners, but it is amazing. 😀

  3. Pharaoh is the Elvis one 🙂 Potiphar appears and throws Joseph in jail. (Right? Or have I got my wires crossed)

  4. In cross country in college we used to say we ran for a good breakfast, sometimes that post race buffet was the best meal of the week 🙂

  5. Oh crap. My bad. You are so right. I don’t know why I even thought that! At any rate, I am STILL excited to see this one and even more so that I will know some of the folks participating!

Gee… still slapping my forehead over that goof. It’s not like I haven’t heard the story of Joseph too many times to remember (and we have the DVD with [swoon] Donny Osmond as Joseph).

  6. Congrats to E!
But really, I just wanted to say that the photo with this post has to be one of my favorites ever.

  7. hey – second comment today from me 🙂 but this is “official business…” I got the Versatile Blogger award last week and I would like to pass it on to you. There are some conditions to earn the badge (pretty easy) but hopefully it makes your Monday more happy to know someone read and likes your work. Keep it up, I need stuff to read ?

  8. YAY for running!!! You should be really proud of yourself; running that far is tough and you deserve kudos- you go girl!!

I ran a 1/2 marathon this weekend in honor of myself (my birthday) and the medal is TOTALLY the best part about it. I love it- I kinda wanted to wear it work today and show off 🙂

  9. hehe I have that on video (Might need to replace it at some point!) I’ve been in two performances of it too 🙂 We even did a line dance thing like in One More Angel.

  10. Congrats to E! My own E has her audition for her show (The Drowsy Chaperone) TODAY. I’m very nervous on her behalf. My younger daughter just got cast as Reno in Anything Goes. So we have shows all over the place! (And I’m producing Anything Goes, so … )
