As many of you know, one of LilZ’s BFFs from birth is visiting for two weeks. He has two BFFs since Birth and one of them lives here in Huntsville while the other moved out to Seattle a few years ago. She comes to visit every summer for two weeks and the three of them are reunited like they were never apart. I’ve never known anyone to grow up with the kind of friendship these three have. The other Moms and I always struggle to explain it to other people. They’re all about to start high school, two girls, one boy. And when they reunited on Monday? The first they did was embrace and then hold hands into the restaurant we were going for breakfast.
The three of them on my wedding day. The girls were Junior Bridesmaids.
The excess teenagers in my life this week has been what has kept me more absent from the blog than normal. They’re kinda fun to hang out with so I’m staying up later chatting and I even let one of them do my makeup the other night. FUN! I’m suddenly seeing what I have to look forward to with NikkiZ. Someone to doll me up!
We wanted to do something fun this weekend, but traveling with a group that size is expensive. So, we have opted to travel to a local hotel! Tonight and Saturday night we’re staying at a local hotel that is embedded in an outdoor shopping center. This will allow the teenagers to wander around on their own some while NikkiZ and I swim in the hotel pool. (I’m leaving MrZ at home with AndyZ for the weekend. MrZ is looking forward to a quiet house for two days!) We’re going to eat at the fancy restaurants and see movies and probably still spend less money than if we had traveled for the weekend. And since we’re close to home MrZ and AndyZ will be able to come swim and eat some meals with us.
NikkiZ is so excited she told everyone at school about it this morning. She told me I needed to pack ALL of our things because, “We’re not ever coming back home!” She evidently has plans to relocate to the hotel permanently. She told MrZ, “I’m sorry you can’t come with us, Daddy.” She used that tone that implied, “You know…because this is for big kids only.” She followed me around all morning making sure I packed her pajamas and her brush and her dresses and her…you get the picture. This trip started as a treat for the teenagers but I think a certain 3-year-old is going to have the most fun of all!
