Adventures, Makes Me Happy, Thing 1

Wicked Awesome.

LilZ and I went to see Wicked last night and I can say that his gratitude alone made the cost and the effort of the trip worth it. He must have sincerely thanked me 900 times and if you’ve ever known a 14-year old you will understand that such intense gratitude is something to be cherished.

And I can say all of that even considering the fact that I was up all night hugging the toilet in (a very cool) hotel room due to some incredible awesome food poisoning. His gratitude was THAT AWESOME, that it counterbalanced the cost of the trip, the tickets and my misery.

Now…all of that said? My love of the actual production? Turns out to all be icing on the cake. I loved it more than I would have ever expected. We’ve been listening to the soundtrack for months, so we felt like we wouldn’t be in for any surprises. Little did we know…we were so surprised. The dialog was funnier than I expected and there were parts of the actual story that I hadn’t picked up from just the music. If you get a chance to see the show, YOU MUST SEE IT.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

Now, I need to get to bed because I’m still feeling very woozy as I was still puking even up to about 4 hours ago. I’m just now starting to feel kinda human again and now really ready for a good night’s sleep. Somewhere other than the floor of a bathroom.

And, on an un-related note, MORE PHOTOS!

  1. Wicked is awesome! I love the music! Glad you liked it! I also really like NikkiZ Easter dress! Great pictures!

  2. I’m so glad you both had a nice time (minus the food poisoning) and enjoyed the play. “Popular” has to be my favorite song of the entire production. That and “Defying Gravity.” I am SO sorry to hear about the food poisoning though, what a bummer! Did you call the restaurant to let them know?

Oh, and let me know when you’ve seen the finale of Friday Night Lights. Cannot wait for next season.

  3. Glad to see yet another person won over to the awesomeness that is “Wicked.” I saw it almost 4 years ago in San Francisco and fell in love with it. The musical is so very different from the book (which I did NOT like at all). Funny, touching, and engaging.

  4. I loved the book — still haven’t had a chance to see the show. Do rent “Show Business, the Road to Broadway” if you haven’t already seen it. All behind-the-scenes stuff about Wicked, Ave. Q and two others. It was great.

Glad that even when you’re vomiting you’re still cheery. You are an inspiration to us all, chicky.

  5. These pictures are awesome! I love to see your style changing/adapting as you master your camera. How cool!

Glad you enjoyed the show. My HUSBAND actually liked it, which shocked me as he is not the sort of person to like anything that actually involves leaving the house.

  6. I knew you guys would love it!! I just knew. It is fantastic. have you guys had a chance to read the books? Wicked, Son of a Witch and now he has one out about the Lion. I gave my copy of Wicked to a director when we did Wizard of Oz so we could maybe take a slightly different angle. I have yet to get the book back. As a theatre snob, I do need to correct you. You have been listening to the cast recording. A soundtrack is to movie or television show. (sorry it is a HUGE pet peeve of mine, feel free to ignore) 😉 My sister is going when it is in Phoenix in July and I want to go sooooo bad!!

It sucks about the food poisoning. I am glad you are feeling better!!

  7. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
I’m so glad to hear how awesome the show is as well. Can’t wait to see it on Saturday. The nieces and my mom are on pins and needles.
    Get well!

  8. That’s hillarious. Because I got food poisoning yesterday too and spent the night on the couch and in the bathroom feeling like complete and utter crap.

Commiserations on your health issues and congratulations on having such an awesome son.

  9. Wicked! I just saw Wicked for the first time last month. I surprised my sister for her birthday (she is obsessed) and I had never heard any of the music (though I had read the book). I LOVED it. So so funny, which I wasn’t expecting.

Also, I love that last picture. Gorgeous.

  10. I agree with everyone else who has said that Wicked is amazing! Glinda the Good is definitely on my list of Roles I Would Like To Play!

  11. I’m pretty sure you have the best son in the history of the world. He is just beyond awesome, and I hope he reads this. 🙂

    Happy Friday!

  12. Dude. I am stalking your archives right now, and I’m only up to May 2005…You *write* like I *think* it is bizarre. I’m curious though, why are you miss zoot and not mrs zoot? Since you started your blog *after* your and mrz were married? I’m just anal like that I guess. Anyway, I’m having a fantastic time reading the back-in-the-day entries. You are super cool, me thinks. –Beth and Baby Cakes
