AndyZ is not only sitting up (something he started last week) but he has also started commando crawling. He is no longer trapped wherever we leave him which means I now have to start thinking about things like, “Where did I leave that switch blade?”
I think it’s time that he move to his crib. (Have I said this 50 times already?) He moved around enough in bed last night that he ended up right next to MrZ. Which is not a safe place to sleep if you’re a small human. So – tonight we’re going to brave putting him in his crib. He shares a room with NikkiZ so this is going to be an adventure on many fronts. Hopefully he’ll do like his sister did when we moved her to the crib, he’ll sleep through the night for the first time ever! If he does that? I’m buying you all drinks tomorrow to celebrate.
All I’m hoping is that if he wakes up at all, his sister will sleep through it. If I find myself awake at 2am with an infant and a 3-year old? Tomorrow’s entry will be titled How To Sell Your Children On EBay In Five Easy Steps.
Best of luck! Sounds a little scary 😉
Did you do anything special to help him learn to sit up? My boy is two weeks older than Andyz and keeps tipping over. I was really hoping he’d be sitting up by Christmas, but oh well.
Good luck with that! Our first son did great when moving into his own crib.
Oh and I’ll feel your pain with two little ones awake. My darling newborn was up from 1-5 am which of course woke up my almost 3 year old. Fun times.
GOOD LUCK!! I hope it all goes well!
Ooooh good luck – i’m nervous for you. But on the other hand; could he BE any CUTER??!! Look at that squishy face!! wow! Yummy!
Beth (mommy to a busy 5-yr old)
there might be a rough night or 2, but nikkiz will learn to sleep through it – i’ve had my girls in the same room since the baby was 5 months old, and she didn’t sleep through the night til she was almost 2. *ugh* now neither one hears the other when there’s a night time issue…
andyz looks a little concerned about this transition… =D
I get 1 night a week where the 3 year old has a bad dream, and in the process of calling for me, wakes his almost 2 year old brother up. That’s such a treat! I thought that after I weaned them and they didn’t need the boob at night I’d get to sleep more, but I haven’t slept a full 8 hours in my own bed in 3 years! I so need sleep, but I think they know my weakness and exploit it to their advantage!
This is what scares me about our new baby (due in July) — that she/he will wake up 3 y.o. big brother (not the best sleeper) in the room next door. Ack! I am going to keep my fingers crossed that EVERYONE in your house gets a full night’s sleep tonight. Good luck!
I found your site through Critical Mass and I love your layout…
Gah! Mobility! Isn’t it crazy to have to think about baby proofing again?
They are pretty cute. I’d definitely bid on them.
Start buying the drinks. I say he is going to sleep through the night. 🙂
I keep coaxing my friends daughter E (she’s 8 months) just to skip crawling and start walking!
She keeps getting agitated that she can’t keep up with anyone.
We sat in the middle of the floor while watching her sister, my OH, her Mum and our friend run round pretending to be aeroplanes – E thought it was awesome! she couldn’t keep up with where people were
did you do it??? how’d it go???
I love hearing that you’ve been co-sleeping all this time. My guy is 3.5 months and I’m wondering if I should try the crib now. (But it’s so easy to roll over and nurse! And I like snuggling! But he keeps waking up 3-4 times a night. Arrrgh! Decisions, decisions.)
I hope it went well! I need to start doing the same with my little one, but I don’t want to! I like her in bed with us!
Update? How did it go? Lil’bug is still sleeping in bed with us. We’ve tried getting her to sleep on a crib mattress on the floor next to our bed…and she’s not having any of it. If we put her in her own room (at the other end of the house from our room) she’d surely wake her brother across the hall before we’d get to her. I’d rather wake up, roll over, and go back to sleep than have to go running through the house to get her before she wakes him.
