About Me

DUDE. All of you people constantly bitching about allergies? I’m sorry for possibly rolling my eyes are your complaints and never completely appreciating your pain. I finally experiences full fledge “Allergies” this weekend complete with 100 sneezes in 2.5 seconds, swollen eyes, and tear-inducing headaches. I had this type of reaction when I was a kid from indoor allergies, but for the last 12 years, I’ve only had problems with itchy/watery eyes in early Spring. I was not so lucky this weekend. Nope. I was miserable. The 100 sneezes in 2.5 seconds comment? NOT AN EXAGGERATION. I actually think my headache from last night was a tension headache resulting from the non-stop sneezing I had been doing for the hours before.

But from evil? We can always find good. And that good is: Benadryl. My mother-in-law blessed me with the gift of Benadryl last night and all sneezing stopped! Eyes no longer watery! Throat no longer scratchy! Of course I was incredibly lethargic but still – no sneezing! I love you, Benadryl. You are my new BFF.

Needless to say, I’m actually a little glad Monday is here.

I can’t believe I just said that.

  1. Welcome to the world of parenting a (almost) teenager. Each time you go through something with him, just remember, you have to do it again in ten years with nikkiz. Yea, I have children 10 years apart also. It sends a shudder through my spine whenever I think about having to parent a teenager again in 10 years.

  2. Ugh…sounds like it was rough especially when you add the allergies to it. Hope things are better for you today.

  3. Sorry it was a rought weekend. Hope the week will treat you better…

  4. I am so sorry it was a bad allergy weekend!! I usually just have the headaches, itchy eyes…never had the 100 sneezes though!! 5 is my max!! I hear you about the monday…i got my wisdom teeth out on Friday…and have the above allergy symptoms. joys. i hope the parental issues get better for you! I am sure you are doing fine!!

  5. I’ve never had an allergy issue before, but I too have been struggling! Knocked out flat! My poor nose is all chapped and I keep smearing Burt’s Bees on it. So, I feel your pain, and I couldn’t even TAKE anything besides a couple of Tylenol, because I’m pregnant.

Hope things work out with LilZ. He’s a great kid! Except for the whole “growing up” thing that makes it complicated.

  6. Ahhhh Benadryl. How do I love thee… I often can’t sleep because of my allergies and Benadryl is my little wonder-drug.
Of course, if you DON’T want to sleep you have to eventually find something else to take so you can, you know, “function” or something.

  7. Ahhh, Benadryl. It is quite the life saver! And eeek! in regards to the LilZ situation…parenting a teenager or anything close terrifies me! *lol*

  8. Oh, allergies do suck ass. I used to be an eye-roller as well, until last year in the spring I was congested, sneezing up a storm, runny-eyed and runny-nosed. Everywhere I went I kept kleenex and I couldn’t see without having to really focus. It was awful.

The other bad thing was the allergy pills I took. They would just knock me out… I’m not sure if they even worked because every time I took one I spent all my time unconscious.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  9. Hi, Zoot! I second the Claritin! I take the generic Wal Mart or Target version and it works great, plus no drowsiness like the Benadryl. Allergies suck, I know! Good Luck!
