My Dad is really smart. Like, buys-textbooks-for-the-fun-of-it smart. And not just smart in his professional field, or smart in what he studied in college, but smart in EVERY area. So, when he called me one night a couple of years ago to ask for “help” with something? I was so excited I might have hyperventilated a little bit. He knew I had held administrative duties on a Windows NT network when I was in college, and wondered if I could help him get around some issue he was having with a site he was working on. Once I got over the initial shock of him asking me for help, I did the next most miraculous thing and actually helped him. I’ll never forget that day (probably because it won’t ever happen again).
Today? Something just as miraculous occurred. MrZ asked me for help. I wasn’t much help over the phone, but once he emailed me some files, I was able to offer a solution to a particular web design issue he was having. Since he and I are in the same field, I am ALWAYS asking him for help, but this may have been the first time he asked me. And it was almost positively the first time I was able to offer a solution. I even offered a solution to a smaller problem he was having and he said, “We’ll go over that one later…” implying he might ask me for help AGAIN. Like, he was so impressed with my ability to help him this time, he may seek my expertise again. AGAIN. He is going to be a repeat customer to my brain!
I feel so smart right now. This may be enough that I can finally live saying, “New Orleans is a very large state!” by accident that one time back in college. Right? MrZ? Don’t you think?
