I just got back from nursing NikkiZ (why do so many of my entries start out that way?) and her morning teacher alerted me to something she thought I should be aware of:
I don’t think the new teacher remembers to change diapers, I just thought you should know since you come over so often. That way, you can check her and see if she needs changing if you’re concerned.
I was really glad she was telling me this because I don’t worry about changing NikkiZ when I get to her daycare, I just sit down, nurse her, and then leave. When you take 3 lunch breaks a day, you try to be quick. On the other hand, I didn’t want to have to deal with any diaper rash, so it’s good to know I should check the charts to see when she was last changed in case it’s been too long.
See? (she was showing me NikkiZ’s chart) I changed her at 8:50am, went across the hall for awhile, and when I came back at 11:00 I looked and she hadn’t been changed. So I changed her immediately!
Um. What’s that, two hours? And she was concerned that NikkiZ had gone that long? Implying that two hours is a long time to go between diaper changes. Does this mean three hours is definitely too long? So, if I told her that some people (not me, I swear) don’t even start checking her diaper until the two hour mark? What would she say? What if someone (not me, I swear) forgot and let her go four hours between changes? Not that I know anyone who has done that, I’m just wondering what she would think if someone had done it.
I’m such a bad mom.
